In the past week or so, there was a marriage in what is growing into a celebrity fad. This celebrity fad is what I call, Celebrity Cougar marriages.

If you are unfamiliar with the term “cougar”, let’s explain. A cougar is a mature women who is either divorced, widowed or still single who prefer to date and/or marry younger men. The cougars who date, are looking for a fun, fling with an attractive younger male. Its mainly non-committal, and much of the control usually belongs to the woman who seeks younger men.

Cougar marriages are of course just a little different. These marriages are by older women looking to marry younger men for several different reasons. These women may be late bloomers and feel more comfortable with the company of a younger man, because they themselves feel that they are truly at the same maturity level as their male counterparts. Other reasons may be because these women have been in relationships where they may have been the less dominant of the two, for whatever reasons, and might be looking for more control in the relationships to a younger male. Still yet another reason, is that the older women might have been bored by older men, while she was more vitale and looking for more activity from their male counterpart. This may also be related to more of a physical relationship that many more mature women desire than what is with an older man.

The alluring trait that younger men see in dating an older woman is that they are more mature obviously, but also more focused what they want out of life. It also may have to do with a man who isn’t very comfortable with being the dominant personality in a relationship, although this probably would be never revealed by another man. There is also the fact that a man might feel more better of himself knowing that such type of women are interested in him. This has to do with the male ego most of the time. It is something that a lot of men discuss when they are amongst other men and it is seen as sort of a “badge of honor” somewhat. Yes that sounds corny, and again, most men probably won’t admit to that, but in the end, it’s the ego and maybe being seen with such an attractive, successful mature older woman and his arm. As sophmoric as that may sound, ego and the ability to catch an older woman is something that most men dream of.

This is a growing trend and is not surprising given the influence that these people have on the media and society. Our lifestyles are in a way affected by these people. Entertainment shows love to focus on rumors, gossip and basically information that has yet to surface. Why? Well this type of information is hot and people from all parts of the world love to hear gossip. But celebrity gossip just takes this fascination to another level.

Since to us, we assume that the celebrities whom we admire have a high level of character and esteem, is why we are shocked and sometimes down right nosey when our heros get caught up in big messes that life tends to do. Maybe somehow we feel better about ourselves knowing that Brittany Spears is going through a hard-ship divorce or her kids were on the verge of being taken away. Maybe we are too bored with our own lives that we kind of view celebrity encounters of the bad kind, that can add something interesting to our lives. That is probably our same reason that we always seem to watch reality television as life’s dramas get’s played out on the television sets every night.

We know it’s fake and pre-scripted, but yet we still watch it. So is it that we crave so much excitement in our lifestyle that we find entertainment in these reality show dramas and celebrity rumors? The answer to that is a resounding yes, but yes in a good way.

We as humans need something for us to past time. For a lot of us its entertainment. Entertainment can come in many different forms. Reality television, entertainment gossip shows, sports, playing video games. Whatever it is entertainment is something humans will always find interesting, fascinating and appealing. It’s just some people like differeent forms of entertainment :).

Asia’h Epperson is a 19 year old contestant during season 7 of American Idol. She auditioned in Atlanta while singing “How Do I Live”. It was a moving tribute to her father who had just days before died in a car accident. Simon and the gang thought her performance was good enough to push her forward to Hollywood. She made it to the top 24 contestants as one of the top 12 girls. Unfortunately her dream of being the American Idol evaporated when she was voted off on March 6 after singing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston.

Asia’h Epperson is a very attractive girl. She has a lot of talent and is surely going to find a career in performing, whether that is through her music or in front of the camera. She has a great personality so if she can find a way to convince a producer to give her a chance at acting, she might find herself on TV.

It seems that the judges were surprised when Asia’h Epperson was voted off. Their critique of her last performance was very good. Randy said “that was hot!”. Paula said that Asia’h “nailed it”. Even Simon suggested that she was at least “good enough for the top 12″. Unfortunately it was not to be. Asia’h said she feared one of the contributing factors of her getting voted off was having to go first in the show. Perhaps that was true as the early performances can sometimes be forgotten by the time the last few performers sing.

At any rate, Asia’h has a career entertaining. She will be singing or acting in the near future to the enjoyment of many.
